Vignetting – Making Awesomeness

Like all tools I’m learning that there is no universal tool. Its an art, but I want it to be a science. I want a universal tool that always makes awesomeness – even if its not a click of a button, I want it to be a standardized process. I think most consumers want this as well, since every manufacture of new gear or software promises awesomeness for all things.

Take the above photo as an example. I applied vignetting via Lightroom and it really helped. I’ve already been down this road and I so want to be able to apply vignetting to every photo, but it can easily get overused. Its one of those tools that you can’t apply universally, but there are times when it makes you photo awesome.

I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever really learn the “art” of photography, but I do know there isn’t a universal solution for all photographs. Knowing this, I just keep plugging away adding more tools to my toolkit and more important learning when not to apply them.

Below is the same photo without vignetting.
